Improving Transplant Organs

The time between recovering an organ for transplant and transplanting the organ is limited by the time that it remains viable.

During that time the suitability of the organ must be assessed; it is harmful to the recipient to transplant an organ that may be diseased or a poor match.

These tests must be completed and the organ transported to the most suitable recipient whilst the organ remains viable.

Currently many organs are rejected because they cannot be assessed and matched within the time available.

Haemaflow has technology that may maintain transplant organs in a viable state for longer thus allowing better assessment, better matching to the right recipient and, at the same time, enabling the transplant to be conducted during normal day-time hours when all the hospital support facilities are available.
